My life now looks completely different to how it looked just five months ago.
I am now single, and have a new job. Both things I didn’t imagine or envision happening. It’s been a rough couple of months, but I’m beginning to feel more like myself again. And now that I am, it’s time to challenge myself to something I feel I can achieve. I’m trying to be nicer to myself by setting attainable goals.
The half marathon distance is one I enjoy. Don’t get me wrong, it’s hard work, and most of the time I feel like I’d rather be doing a 10k that-would-be-over-by-now, but it gives me an amazing sense of achievement once I cross the finish line. Therefore, my personal challenge for next year is to run a half marathon each month.
I already had a few booked in, and have decided I’m going to do the Las Vegas half marathon as a destination half. It’s not until the end of next year, so I haven’t been able to book yet, but as soon as I can, I will be. Running down the strip is going to be a once in a lifetime experience.
So, here’s how the calendar looks so far, the events in brackets haven’t been booked yet:
January: Lee Valley Velopark Half
February:
March: The Big Half
April:
May:
June:
July:
August:
September: Bedford Half
October: (Bournemouth Half)
November: (Rock’n’Roll Las Vegas Half)
December:
So which is your favourite half? I’d love to hear any recommendations to help fill my year with running fun.
